Confirmation Registration

Postby Tnexus » Wed Sep 27, 2006 4:37 am

I'm not sure if phpbb allows it, but is it possible to change registration to being allowed by mods only? It'd hopefully stop the spam posts while only giving a minor inconvenience to new people.

I think we are doing that soon, the thing is that we are all very lazy and this require us to check our emails!.

But yes, we have to do something to stop all the spam, it is allready taking way to much of our time to remove and ban them.

Can you just ask for volunteers to do the accepting/denying?

Would be nice to go back to confirmation registration even if it takes a week for legit registrations to go through, just to put an end to the recent spammers.

This spam is insane. They hit every board on 2-3 threads each.

I agree because as it is atm this site isnt child safe and it should be imho.

I am still here often as you might know, but I will let the active EQ'ers among the admins deside what to do, I can just leave if I dont agree.

Too bad they can't pass a law that it is legal to hunt these people down and shoot them. 12:42pm pacific and the site is covered in spam yet again.

Yeah, one reason they keep doing it is that there are no consequences to spamming.
Oh sure, there's lots of talk, but the bottom line is that nothing ever happens to spammers so they'll continue to harass us.
