Hello from Al'Kabor

Postby Echofinder » Sat Apr 24, 2010 10:15 am

Thought I should say Hiho to the larger Ranger world. I've checked out these forums from time to time in the past.

This last visit brought me in search of some info on casting spells and the effect it has on weapons procing. Specifically when soloing and wanting my epic slow to land ASAP on a tough target. My first thoughts were that I should just melee away without nuking until slow procs. Experience seams to tell me that I often see a slow proc right after a nuke lands (figure it has to do with some weapon delay detail) Given that my dps is better when nuking as frequently as possible with my highest fire and ice spells, and that the epic proc cab be stubborn to go, I have taken to the later method for ASAP slow procedure. Any info on this or thread you could point me to would be great, I looked but came up empty.

Anyhow...On this last visit I see someone let this Utdaan guy run a forum here  Yes Utdaan answered many total noob questions from me in late 2007 when I dove into EQ for the first time.

I'd thought I'd share another take on the EQ scene of AL'kabor from a member of a different guild, below are some posts by a guild member posted on the eqmac forums. (Circe should your Ranger alt visit here I hope you have given /consent ) These are probably solo targets for the bigger EQ world for all I know, hope you get a kick out of the stories and my hodge podge of Ranger gear that makes up my outfit.

Experience is well and good, but what you've seen is the random number generator at work.

The ways to make a weapon proc more often is to use it in your mainhand rather than offhand, to invest in the Weapons Affinity AA, and to maximize your 'combat effects' mod. Nothing else will affect it, not howling at the full moon, sticking needles in your ears or nuking hard and fast.

One tried and true way to make the slow proc actually take hold on your target is to start off with a proc from the Tash stick out of Old Seb. Search for Journeyman's Walking Stick. Grab a rogue to unlock the door for you, buy a stack of heal potions (if you have access to them on the Mac server?), at least one method of gating home and good luck on the camp - it's massively useful in the right circumstances.
A ranger is an archer first, last and in between!
