Copied from a post I did for EQHunter...
Starting the quest – Nedaria
Standing at location 450, 1450
You say, ‘Hail, a Wayfarers Brotherhood officer’
a Wayfarers Brotherhood officer says 'Hello. I can tell that you are a great hunter and tracker. I wanted to pass on to you some information, act on it as you will. A group of adventurers stopped in here a while ago. They said that they had information about a particular member of the Muramite army, some general or something, that had enslaved some elemental spirits. They went looking for him but haven't returned. I would appreciate any information you can find out about them. For now I am going to have to assume that they have all been killed.'
Siflu in Nobles Causeway
Found at location 240, 650
Take the second left when running through Noble's Causeway from Dranik's Scar to Wall of Slaughter. After that leff, you will come to another bridge and as you approach it, a small fire elemental named Siflu will spawn on the other side next to a boulder. He’s a blue con at level 70, but doesn't see invis, nor do the 2 roaming Dragorn that path past him. In addition, those two Dragorn roamers do not assist Siflu if he’s aggro.
Engage Siflu and you will receive this emote:
The Heartwood Blade thrums as you battle the flame spirit.
At approximately 10% health, Siflu will go non-combative.
Siflu says 'Well, that was interesting! I guess you've broken their power over me. I suppose I should be grateful or something. I was having fun here, killing people without having to worry that it might be wrong. So what is it that you want from me? You're not going to yell at me for beating up [adventurers], are you? That wasn't my fault, I was forced to do that by the muramites.'
You say, 'adventurers?'
Siflu says 'There have been plenty of those, that's for sure. If you mean recently, then, I suppose I know the group you're talking about. They were hunting us, just as I suspect you are. I was sent to kill anyone that might be on our trail. They gave me a loadstone that I could use to find them again. Here, you take it; I'm getting out of here while I still can.
At this point you receive Heated Loadstone and Siflu despawns.
Aged Muramite Captain in Wall of Slaughter
Found at location -1080, 20
Moving left along the zone wall in Wall of Slaughter from Nobles Causeway is a series of buildings. If you have the Heated Loadstone from Siflu, as you approach the buildings, your loadstone will give you a yellow emote text and A Mangled Muramite Captain and 2 Ukurn guards will spawn. The Mangled Captain is red at level 70 and the two Ukurn are blue. The Ukurn can be bard split from the Captain, so a single pull is possible.
Kill the Mangled Muramite Captain and receive Traverler’s Journal and Spirit Manacles
The Traveler’s Journal says the following over 4 pages:
"We have learned a few things. The Muramites are definitely capturing people and making slaves of them. So far they haven't caught too many of us since the Wayfarers opened the portal. Mostly they seem to have been taking elementals. Not sure why. Hopefully we'll have some real information to return to the Brotherhood officer when we are done here.
We're on their trail now. Rolf managed to get close enough to them to notice that they had a fire elemental with them. He says there are only four of them, the elemental, two flunkies and some sort of leader. He heard the two flunkies talking about how it would be when tehy were reinstated into the army, so it sounds like these are independants. Their leader appears to be permanently injured. Rolf says that they talked about his failure at a trial of some sort adn how they would get a chance to earn another try if they brought the big cheese enough slaves. We shouldnt have any trouble taking them out, they appear to be failures on all levels."
Return the Travler’s Journal to a Wayfarers Brotherhood officer
You feel words forming in your mind. They come from the Heartwood Blade. 'I sense it now, the one that put Siflu under the control of that Muramite is the same one that destroyed my body. It is too powerful for me to defeat if we encounter it directly. You will need to create a device that can harness and control the power of the elements. This will be difficult because I do not know exactly what you need. I can describe their function. You will need a container. It must be open to the elements but still hold the items you will put inside. You will be able to use that loadstone to focus the power on the right target, since it was made by the one we seek. Those horrible manacles will also serve to contain the energy and focus it. Then you will need a powerful segment of each element. You can use Earthcaller and Swiftwind to represent the spirit of Earth and Air, but you will need such a thing for Fire and Water as well. Without this item I will not be able to free any spirit directly under his control.
The Spirit Cage
You need to collect 3 additional items:
Crooked Cage drops from A Delirious Miner and A Broken Skull Bruiser in Torgiran Mines.
Living Fragment of Fire dropped from Jorpal in Plane of Fire.
Living Fragment of Water dropped from Triloun in Plane of Water.
Combine inside the Cage, the 2 fragments, Swiftwind, Earthcaller, the Loadstone from Siflu and the Manacles from the Muramite Captain.
Very good. Now we must attune the cage to the specific element that we wish to free. You will need two items, one must protect from the element and the other must be able to absorb an incredible amount of that element. This is not a simple task. You must first discover the nature of the spirit that you wish to free and then find such items that will allow you to redirect its power. You must know that each spirit represents a specific area within their element and that is what you must focus on, not their element specifically. For example, Grinbik was an earth spirit, but his area of power was fertility. Senvial was a spirit of water, his power was in mist and fog.
You will recieve Spirit Cage as well as your Earthcaller and Swiftwind.
Craftmaster Tieranu in Rift Seekers Sanctum
Found in this room in Rift Seekers.
She hits for 2500 and single rampages. Over the course of the fight she will summon three lvl 70 fire elementals - Flamegore, Sizzle and Hotspot.
They are able to cast Heatwave (1500 AE) and Balance of the Nameless (Dispel). They hit for an average of 400 and are mezzable.
After the last add from the first wave is down, another wave of five elementals will spawn: Cinder, Coal, Flametop, Flareup and Burnscar. These are blue to lvl 70, hit for about 390 max and 170 on average and cast the same spells as the first wave. These are mezzable as well.
Kill Craftsmaster Tieranu and recieve Ring of Warmth
Herrian Warfrost in Wall of Slaughter
Found at location 2000,
Herrian Warfrost spawns in WOS down the left tunnels at the MPG Ramp (first right down left tunnel). Red con at 70th level, also spawns with 3 red con Excited Builders as well. Herrian is rooted, quads for 2700, has a 1500 DD AE and procs a 10 second stun.
Defeat Herrian and recieve Hoarfrost Wand
Elemental Ice Spirit Cage
Combine the Hoarfrost Wand and the Ring of Warmth in your Spirit Cage to recieve Elemental Ice Spirit Cage, a one slot container, and this emote:
The Red Dogwood Treant speaks to you from within your sword. Well done. This should allow me to free a spirit with power over cold and ice. Now you need to find the power that binds the spirit and unleash it where that spirit is bound.
Globe of Discordant Energy
Loot a Globe of Discordant Energy. dropped from specific named fights inside Anquish.
Place the Globe of Discordant Energy inside the Elemental Ice Spirit Cage and hit combine. (have to be in Anguish for this combine to work)
Oshimai Spirit of the High Air will spawn.
Oshimai Spirit of the High Air says, 'So you are the one that I have been sensing all this time. I had hoped that you would come to rescue me. I am Oshimai of the High Air. I owe you and your guardian spirit my thanks. I think I know how I can repay you. Give me the Heartwood Blade, the Globe of Discordant Energy and that device you used to free me.'
Give him the globe, the Heartwood Blade and the Cage.
Oshimai Spirit of the High Air shouts 'Everyone present shall know of your deeds. Each of you take notice of this ranger that has freed me! Oshimai of the High Air thanks you, friend and those that have aided you!' Oshimai raises the blade to the level of his eyes. A cold wind stirs in the area. It gathers around him and then flows from him into the sword in his hands. When he hands the weapon back, it has an animate life in it, a power that you can see and sense. 'I have given your ally some of my strength. He, through this blade, will be better able to aid you in your work. Thank you.'
Receive 10 AAs, the title Farwarden and more importantly: Aurora, the Heartwood Blade. _________________ Ladas Sindarin

|
|
I'm up to the RS fight, which my guild/public system has done many times, but my memory of the fight is hazy. Fellow rangers tell me if you avoid killing Hotspot, you can avoid triggering the second wave of adds. They recommend just mezzing them all, winning, and then dealing with the adds afterwards
Is this true? And if so, does the 2nd wave of adds spawn if you've already killed the main mob and then kill Hotspot? _________________ Playing Huntmaster Guiscard Negociant, a 79th-level Ranger on E'ci (Tunare)

yes, true, yes.
Save Hotspot, Kill the main named mob, the adds will still spawn after you kill him. _________________

Remember that the fragments drop off mephit models. There are a few right inside PoW that you can camp solo if needed. You will have to do some clearing to get em in fire, unless you do some fancy pulling. But both can be obtained from the zone in _________________

I got both of my drops within an hour or two of starting to camp them.
Soloed the PoW mobs pretty easily and got the drop in maybe 15-30 minutes.
A mage was bored so he came to PoF with me. That one still took a bit longer, even though I was pulling almost exclusively mephits.
So they shouldn't take too long unless you're very unlucky with the RNG. So not rare at all. _________________ Kuldail -- Retired

RSS and the one WoS fights are semi nasty, the RSS fight can be done with 2 groups, the WoS fight can be done with 5 groups, more if you are sub anguish.
Other than that its only the Captain in WoS that takes more than yourself, I did it with cleric bard and myself. _________________ Ladwenae - rangering again! |

When you do the combine with swifty and earthcaller, should you remove augs from them or will they still be there when returned? _________________

I'd recommend removing any augs. I doubt they'll be returned after the combine. When I did my combine I removed them, better to be safe. _________________ Kuldail -- Retired

| This is probably a very dumb question, but in the last steps you place the globe in the cage and combine it - I presume this combine doesn't actually have any effect on the items combined (ie- combine them!) since the next step has you handling them both in!...? |
